Welcome back to an exciting new year at the Fernie Childcare Centre!!

We have had some staff changes in the last month. We said goodbye to Krista, we wish her well in her new endeavours and say hello to Chloe, Brittany and Erika. You will be meeting our new staff over the next month.

Come in and check out our new addition in the 3-5 Centre, our indoor play centre!! We decided to build up and out for more usable play space. This month it is the KID'S CAFE. We would like to thank the Shipley's for giving us a tour of their restaurant, The Picnic. The children brought back a lot of ideas for The Kid's Cafe.

Mel is collecting BOXES, boxes and boxes for a house building project so before you recycle it you can bring it in and we will put it to good use!

Come out this weekend for International Childrens Day and head to the Vogue Theatre to catch a matinee of Harry Potter or Megamind at 3pm. Part of the proceeds made from the Concession Stand will be given to the Society. Thanks everyone for your continued support.

To our members, thank you for your continuing support as we approach our 1 year anniversary.

We wanted to let you know about the changes happening at the Centre. Firstly we want to say a big WELCOME to our new Manager Donna-Lee Cluisault who has joined our team bringing her experience in childcare and management to our existing team. We are currently seeking more IT and ECE qualified staff.

As you may know, we had to close our ECE side for the month of August while we sought out new staff. We are sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused you and hope that you understand we did it for one month so that we didn't have to do it permanently. We will be opening that side Thursday September 2nd 2010 with staff and enthusiasm for an exciting new year!

An exciting year it will be! starting with our 1st Birthday celebrations to which you are all invited too. Even if you don't have children currently in the centre, please come out and join us with home-made cake on Wednesday September 15th starting at 4pm in the Centre's backyard.

Next month the Fernie Childcare Society will be featured in the Fernie Fix with a great article letting the Community at Large know about our positive changes, we've also updated our website www.ferniechildcaresociety.com with all current information and join us on Facebook for regular updates!

August 2010

We've had a few changes to the centre this summer. The building received fresh, bright stucco....thank you Pat Gris! Due to the sauna-like conditions inside, we installed blinds that help block the fierce sun rays from cooking our staff and children. We may have an air-conditioner installed for the September heat wave that must be expected to follow the coolish August. Krista Harry stepped down as Manager and we've hired Donna-Lee Clusiault to head up our highly trained staff at the Fernie Childcare Centre. Loreli Hunter has resigned from our Board and Jacqui Anderson, who served on the Board for it's early years, is back with us again.
